women growFor those that are in the D.C. area and want to network with like minded people, you should check out the Women Grow D.C. chapter meeting in June. On behalf of myself, Laila Makled, and my Vice Chair, Ashby Henderson, we are thrilled to announce the huge success of our Chapter Launch in May and are excited to see you all again and new faces at our June Signature Networking Event.

Betty Aldworth Executive Director, Students for Sensible Drug Policy

Betty Aldworth joined the SSDP team in February 2014 as Executive Director. Since 2009, Betty has specialized in community outreach, public relations, advocacy, and policy reform as a consultant to cannabis-related businesses and nonprofit organizations. Prior to her work in marijuana policy and medical cannabis, she was a volunteer leadership professional with some of Denver’s most well-respected nonprofit organizations.

Betty served as spokesperson and advocacy director for Colorado’s successful 2012 Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, the collaborative committee responsible for legalizing, taxing and regulating marijuana for adults in Colorado, and was the Deputy Director of the National Cannabis Industry Association in 2013, the organization’s largest year of growth.

  1. Betty is a rock star….she’s done so much for the cause! We were lucky to snag an interview with her at Weekend Review Kit….in the first part she talks about SSDP and activism, then cannabias and diversity in the industry for part two. If you’re a bit north of DC, you should check out the Baltimore chapter of Women Grow. Rachelle Yeung of Vicente Sederberg will be speaking this month.
