Attend The Women Grow Portland Chapter Launch Event

portland oregon medical marijuana dispensary collective deliveryWomen are extremely important to the future of the cannabis industry. For a long time men have dominated the marijuana world, but that is changing. More and more women are entering the cannabis space and I couldn’t be happier. There is a new national organization dedicated to women in the marijuana industry called Women Grow. Women Grow is starting chapters all over the country, including in Portland, Oregon.

The Portland chapter of Women Grow is having a launch event that I highly encourage women to attend if they live in the area and are either in the industry already, or want to be in the industry. The chapter is being started by Sarah Batterby and one of my favorite activist of all time, Leah Maurer. Below are more details about the launch event:

We are so excited to announce the launch of the Portland Chapter of Women Grow!  The purpose of Women Grow is to connect, educate and empower leaders in the cannabis industry.  Our hope is that this launch will bring together women currently in leadership, and those wanting to learn from their experiences.

The event will be hosted at the beautiful and stunningly renovated McCormick Mansion on Salmon Street in SE Portland.  The home has been generously donated for the event by Lee and Sarah Henderson.

Please note that this is a private home and the number of possible attendees is fixed.  No tickets will be available at the door and no additional tickets will be issued once the event is sold out.

We plan to serve light refreshments and the whole evening will ride along on a soundtrack specially selected from Lee Henderson’s legendary record collection.  Attire is up to you but don’t be afraid to dress up a little as we plan to make this a celebration of our launch!

We will post more information about speakers as we have it and welcome your participation as a sponsor or volunteer.

On behalf of myself, and my Co Chair Leah Maurer, I would like to express how excited we are to be bringing Women Grow to Portland and how much we are looking forward to seeing you at this wonderful event.

  1. Thank you for your intelligent insight Mr. Bloomington. These feminists are creating issues where there were none. They’re even trying to get into the cannabis industry, and industry that’s barely off it’s feet. If they succeed in dividing the cannabis community as they have almost every other community I don’t have a good feeling for the future of the industry.

  2. Show me one cannabis co-op or grow that discourages women from getting involved. Oh, you can’t? That must because this is a non-issue that’s exploded out of proportion.

Is it really that much of a problem? Are existing groups unfriendly toward females?

Lol, what are you talking about? Being male or woman has nothing to do with getting this shit legal. Oh I know! Lets start up gays for pot! 2 for 1 special.

  5. Yes, men have always run the cannabis industry aka the Circle Jerk. It is men that have the startup capital and the Circle Jerk keeps all others out.Since the Circle jerk is a de facto Boy’s Only Support Group I am sure the boys will able cry into their hankies about all those upstart feminist cannabists. Here is a BIG HUG boys. Sorry your Circle has been violated.

The reason for the women’s group is to encourage women in this prodominatly male industry! Not meaning to exclude men from anything just trying to include women. There are still a lot of issues that needs to be addressed in referrence to women’s treatment in what was previously dominately masculine industries

  7. I could care less whether someone starts a “woman’s” group. But can you imagine the outcry if you wanted to start a “man’s” group. It’s a weird world we live in.

I don’t like these types of groups. How bout I start a men’s group? See what I mean?
