Do You Have A Marijuana Bucket List, And If So, What Is On It?

stoner bucket listDo you have a ‘bucket list’ for marijuana? For those that aren’t familiar with a bucket list, it’s a list that a person makes of things that the would like to do/experience before they ‘kick the bucket.’ I have a marijuana bucket list, and have since before I co-created this blog with Jay Smoker back in 2010. I think that every cannabis consumer should have a bucket list dedicated to cannabis. If you don’t already have one, there’s nothing wrong with starting one today!

This isn’t the first time that I have written about this topic. Looking back at old articles, it always makes me smile when I read about something that used to be on the list, but has since been crossed off. One of those items that comes to mind is seeing cannabis legalization become a reality in Oregon. The 2014 Election obviously took care of that. There were also other items sort of piggybacking off of that one, like making a legal purchase at a regulated store. I’m happy to say that I’ve done that several times since limited recreational sales began in Oregon :)

I asked on Facebook if any others have a marijuana bucket list, and if so, what was on it. It seemed like the two most common answers revolved around people seeing marijuana legalized in one form or another in their area, and things related to cannabis cultivation. There’s an item that has been on my bucket list for a very long time now, and I’m very excited to say that I’ll be able to mark it off in one week. I have a Chong Bong that I have always wanted to get autographed by Tommy Chong. The Oregon Marijuana Business Conference is taking place in Eugene on April 24th, and Chong will be there, and I’m told that I will get to meet him and get my bong signed. So I will keep that item off of my list for now. Below are the items that are currently on my list. They are in no particular order, other than number 1. Number 1 is definitely at the top of my chart these days:

Meet Amber Senter in person

I first met Amber Senter a little after starting this blog, but it wasn’t in person. She was a contributor to a cannabis website at the time, and an activist, and we became internet friends over time. I have always wanted to meet her in person, but it always seems like we miss the opportunity for one reason or another. She has an amazing passion for all things cannabis, she has a ton of talent, and us having a session together is way overdue!

Speak at a cannabis event

There’s more to this one than just simply being asked to speak at a cannabis event. I have been asked before, but I was never able to. One big factor for a long time was that I didn’t want to get fired from my job, as my employer frowned upon cannabis consumption, even during off-work hours. That all changed with the legalization of cannabis in Oregon, so that’s no longer an issue. However, it’s still very hard to get to cannabis events, considering that most of them seem to be on weekdays. I dream of a day when all of the ‘moons align’ and I get asked to speak at an event and can actually do it. What would I talk about? Who knows, I guess we will just have to wait and see!

See federal prohibition end via de-scheduling

This item used to be ‘see marijuana prohibition end in Oregon.’ I was fortunately able to scratch that off my list, so I have replaced it with a more ambitious item. It’s tough to say exactly when federal prohibition will end, but it’s definitely inevitable. The federal government needs to completely de-schedule marijuana, not re-schedule marijuana, and in the process end federal prohibition. Congressman Earl Blumenauer thinks that will happen within 5 years. I sure hope so.

Get high on hot air balloon

This one has been on my bucket list for a long time. I don’t know why I find it so appealing, but I definitely do. If anyone out there owns a hot air balloon and wants to have a session let me know. I’ll bring the cannabis!

Consume with my grandma

I love my Grams with all of my heart. She used to consume cannabis, but hasn’t in decades. I’ve been trying to get her to re-enter the cannabis lifestyle for a while now. She’s definitely becoming more and more open to the idea, especially CBD-rich topicals. I feel like this bucket list item could be completed soon, or at least hope so.

Start no consideration farms

I grew cannabis for a number of years. Nothing to hardcore, especially compared to what people are doing these days. But I always found cultivating cannabis to be very rewarding, and I want to get a garden going again. But not just any garden. I want to create what I call ‘No Consider Farms,’ the founding principle of which is to give all of the harvest away, minus some personal sampling. I want to link up with people/orgs that have a great need for cannabis and cannabis products, but don’t have the means/knowledge for cultivation. There will be some start up costs, and the space I have is not quite ready, but I hope to have this going by the end of the year.

Frequent a cannabis coin-op arcade

Whenever I meet someone that has a decent sized bank account, or knows those that do, I always try to plant the seed in their brain to open a cannabis coin-0p arcade. Barcades are popping up all over the place, and I don’t see why a cannabis one wouldn’t do just as well, if not better. Any arcade would do, but I would really like to see a retro one. Places like Dave and Busters, which are billed as ‘Chuck E Cheese for adults,’ have games that are too new for my taste. I want lots of pinball machines, and games from the 80’s and 90’s. I want to see a ‘claw machine’ that picks up cannabis and cannabis products, and I want to see machines like Skee-Ball produce tickets that can be exchanged at the arcade store for pipes, papers, etc.. If you need more ideas about how to create the ultimate cannabis friendly coin-op arcade with a retro feel, let me know. I have ideas galore.

Travel to Amsterdam and other international cannabis destinations

Amsterdam doesn’t have the same appeal that it once did for me, considering that cannabis is legal in Oregon now. But I still want to go there, and other cannabis friendly places. I hate to travel, but I love making new friends that share a love for cannabis.

No more cannabis testing in sports

I truly want to see cannabis drug testing ended everywhere for everyone, but I’ll start with cannabis testing in sports. If you read this blog often, then you know that I’ve been on a sports kick lately, and that’s because I feel that cannabis reform in sports would dramatically increase the momentum for cannabis reform in society as a whole. I’m not exactly sure what it would take at this point to nix marijuana testing in sports, although it’s worth noting that the National Hockey League (NHL) does not include marijuana on it’s banned substance list. But marijuana testing in all other major sports is mandated, even though it shouldn’t be. I think that marijuana testing reform is achievable in professional sports, and if it can be done, I think that it would be HUGE for marijuana reform efforts outside of sports.

Sit in on an ArcView pitch

To be clear, I just want to sit in on an ArcView pitch, not be the person making the pitch. Maybe someday that will change, but for now I’d like to just be a quite person sitting in the back of the room watching what a pitch looks like. I was hanging out with Troy Dayton on Friday, and I explained to him that I don’t even know what a pitch deck is. Like, what does it look like? Is there a standard ‘format’ for one? Does it fit in a folder? Can it be electronic? I’m not sure how all of that works out, but I’d love to be a fly on the wall during one of those things.

What is on your marijuana bucket list? Feel free to place your comments in the section below, and I look forward to what people have to say!

  1. Sharon my heart has been touched. I’m so sorry for you and your situation. IM A 26 Year Survivor Of A Tragic accidenr. I lost everything but my wife and kids and house. During that time my of medical cannabis evolved. After using quite a bit. I found the gagastrointestinal link. Found a medical marijuana site made friends and through a lot of brave ppl . We can’t send weed to each other but just to get support and validation of your crisis. Helps and I have traveled to visit some of these friends.
I was thrown 25 feet being hit by a back hoe scooper. They dosed me with high with oxicontin. 6 years ago the situation became lethal I never overdosed . My body shut down. I was forced to go through withdrawl with pain +++ . Over my chronic pain experience I’ve gone through so many withdrawl I stop counting. I’ve had to experience everything a hero in user would yet I never got the high and morphine doesn’t help anxiety. I was a hard working lic professional not a dead beat drug addict. This changed me. I really stop judging people .
I wish I could offer you some support. I could help you know what’s going onI had to figure it out. And doctors still give me a dumb dog look. When I expexplain it to them. here is a start for you. Ask question. Research all meds and procedures ask the difficult question. It’s your life. And lastly. I believe we are all spiritual beings in these bodies for a short time. These bodies have problems . pain is inevitable
find peace trusting in yourself and finding your deeper understanding of your conscious
    peace be with you

  2. saynotohypocrisy on

Having a garden and not having to worry about it being stolen ( a community garden would be lovely), and being able to gather with others in public. An apology from the government wouldn’t hurt my feelings any either. I’m still waiting for other prohibs to follow Sanjay Gupta’s lead and apologize for their role in this farce.

Yes, we deserve every single legal right the alcohol industry and alcohol users have. That would still be well more than fair to such a dangerous drug as alcohol.

  4. I’ d like to be able to grow legally wherever I live. Low on probabilities is to visit with Willie on the Honeysuckle Rose and check out what he smokes. It would be great to use Cannabis in a legal social setting in a lounge or club atmosphere to enjoy the bennifits of a true social lubricant. I love “On The Cover Of The Rolling Stone” and if I were a better photographer I’d like to get a picture on the cover of “Skunk” or “High Times”. With some mixed feelings I’d like to again smoke with some of the ‘heads’ from my time spent in the SouthEastern Asian War Games.

  5. Fungi Sclerotia 1427 on

    To see cannabis descheduled federally,
and re-legalized in the 24(+) states where it is not yet legal for any and ALL uses…
(“medical”, “religious” / “sacred” AND “recreational”)

    Short of the above:
To cross the genome of cannabis with other essential-oil producing plants lacking
the tell-tale serrated fan leaves, such as oregano, basil, sage, lavender, citrus, etc,
so that these produce cannabinoids, yet can be grown in plain sight, ANYWHERE.

    I’m generally against transgenic / genetically-engineered / GMO plants / crops,
however, in this instance, it might possibly be a worthwhile endeavor…

[BTW, someone has ALREADY developed a strain of yeast that produces cannabinoids!].

  6. Yeah those are gid dreams for someone who barely knows thier stuff.. Thats why I’m here though. To learn. :D

  7. Sharon Taulbee on

As a chronic pain patient with 8 herniated disks, hip and syatic nerve issues, I am not currently on any pain meds besides meloxicam. I walked to physical therapy again today. Needless to say it took a while. Twice as long almost a full hour to get home. Physical therapy is not helping. And I feel like I am losing my mind from the pain. Using marijuana is not an option with where I live. Well, not being able to get away with it that is.
I’d like to have a nice home (farm) in the country were it is more private. Where I could grow marijuana for myself and others legally. Teaching others how to grow and make various things like high quality R.S.O. Not for money but because people need it and there are too many predators pushing crap and taking advantage for profit.
I dream of the day were I can use marijuana without fear. I go back to the doctor Thursday. I am filled with dread as I know that for now, my only option is harsh pharmaceutical poisons and the high risk of addiction. Even if our legislation passes medical marijuana in Ohio, it will most likely not permit home growing and we will be denied access for at least 2 more years. I am not strong enough to endure this pain without help for that long.
I dream of having a choice about what goes into my body. To smoke a joint and be able to clean my house. To use medical marijuana and once again dance. The biggest one is to dance with my son at his wedding when that day comes.

  8. You lucky dog you. At least for the moment. Living in southern Oregon. Those things sure do count. Having an Ethnobotanical garden interests me. Can’t do it at present.

  9. Number #1 top of my list…

Be able to legally grow cannabis..outdoors on my own private property….I so anticipate the day that I can have a 12-14 ft’ tree in my backyard that will yield me 6-10 pounds of quality herb….

  10. Sounds great. Burn a fattie at Glenwood Springs (Colorado) hot pool during cold weather. (Big as a city block). Camp down the street.
Visit Buffalo Bill’s? National Park in the Rockies at night and view the stars by the millions. Fish and eat the fish for breakfast. Slide down the water-rockslide at Sedona, AZ. Visit some lava river tubes. Camp the west coast again. Maybe find some Jade there. Move to the Southwest USA.

  11. Do the same with the Rayguns (Reagans), Moses. Nancy’s grave may still have the flowers on it. Say NO to prohibition.

  12. Plant outside. Smoke at the park during 4th of July fireworks . Paying forward and helping a person in need.
    And numerous u no
experience humbolt. Mendicino trinity are and see the birthplace of this movement . See ppl that I’ve connection with all over this country. See the aurora boreal is
    see cuba.
And finally as a Cuban American I would like to piss on Nixon grave while burning a fatty. Problem . Much more constructive l things to dp.

  13. I would like to have a bucket of marijuana… and be able to buy edibles in Massachusetts!

  14. I would like to find a marijuana vapor lounge as cool (or cooler) than the bar on Cheers – ‘Where everybody knows your name.’

  15. I want to spend my next vacation at the Doobie Dude Ranch. By day, I’d like to lounge by the pool, catch some rays, enjoy the steel drum band and smoke some fabulous hash. Evenings would include live jazz, gourmet cooking and stunning Indica in abundance.

  16. I’d like to attend a cannabis fair/festival held much the same way local breweries and craft beer companies have beer festivals. Instead of a small sampler cup, people would carry small pipes and one-hitters. Folks with the best genetics and quality would be able to present their hard work publicly, discuss cultivation methods with other producers, and interact directly with their consumers. People would turn out in droves to support their local growers and favorite strains.

There are towns in the South whose economies revolve around beer festival tourism. Oktoberfest is a big deal. Communities could easily do the same with cannabis. The business model already exists and is quite profitable, and I dare say food vendors at a cannabis festival would fare even better than they do at a beer festival.

Plus, these sorts of events would be infinitely more fun and friendlier. It’s not an uncommon occurrence for violence to break out at beer festivals simply because that’s what abundant, freely-flowing alcohol does to some people. Worst-case at a cannabis festival would be a massive group-hug. The day cannabis can be consumed, produced, and showcased with the same freedom as craft beer, prohibition will be officially over.

  17. I want to successfully grow Blue Diesel, and possibly get a producer licensce. C: Do those things count? Also a huge hello from southern oregon. :D
