michigan marijuanaFederal Medical Marijuana Patient Irv Rosenfeld comes to Michigan to Lobby Lansing

Irv Rosenfeld is coming to Michigan to lobby in Lansing against the House Bills that are pending in the Senate and he will be in Dearborn Heights Speaking this Thursday! This is the perfect opportunity for our local officials to hear and learn how the Federal Government has regulated their medical marijuana patients when it comes to driving under the use of marijuana, transporting and what they consider the proper amount necessary for a patients to have uninterrupted supply of their medicine.  These are key issues we face in the upcoming House Bills.

Irvin Rosenfeld is one of only 4 medical marijuana patients in the country that receives cannabis legally from the federal government. Irv will be in Dearborn Heights for a speaking engagement and book signing on Thurs., Sep. 13 at the Donovan’s VFW Hall in Dearborn Heights at 7:00pm. We extend an invitation to everyone at every level to hear Irv speak his experience although seating is limited to 250.Irv is a 59 year-old successful stockbroker from south Florida.  Irv smokes the marijuana to relieve chronic pain and muscle spasms caused by a rare bone disease. When he was 10, doctors discovered that his skeleton was riddled with more than 200 tumors, due to a condition known as multiple congenital cartilaginous exostosis. Despite six operations, he still lives with scores of tumors in his bones. After a long struggle with the federal government, Irv Rosenfeld won the right to access medical marijuana in 1982. Thirteen people with debilitating conditions were allowed into the Compassionate Investigative New Drug (IND) program to receive government-grown marijuana. The Federal Government ended this program in 1992 but to this day, still continues to provide Canisters of marijuana to the four existing patients in the program.

Irv’s book is called My Medicine: How I Convinced the Federal Government to Provide My Marijuana and Helped Launch a National Movement. The book will be available for purchase and will be autographed by the author.

About Author

  1. I guess the last time it was studied they said beer was the real gateway drug but I think you may have something there. I’m old enough to have been given that stuff as a baby and I love pain pills way too much. Fortunately there’s weed around to break the fall so I don’t touch them anymore unless I’m in dire pain.

  2. It’s crap grown at U of Miss. I’ve seen shots of their “grow room” and the plants look like chit and they grind up almost the whole damn plant and store it in 55 gal fiber drums! OMG! It’s powderized yuck!

  3. I wish I could meet Irv…he is a force we need in Wisconsin come testimony time… I got the costs to bring him here last session, but we never even got to have a public hearing in Wisconsin…looks like Michigan is a viable option for grow birds looking to migrate to a legal state.

  4. When I first started hearing about “gateway drugs”, I simply could not believe that simply smoking cannibis could turn me into a consummate junkie. So I started thinking…….. If such a thing as a gateway exists, what could it possibly be? My first theory was MILK. It made sense, since nearly 100% of all addicts drank it prior to becoming addicted. Then I got serious and decided to do a little research. I learned that it was a plausible and probable theory that a “gateway” does exist. I also knew it wasn’t cannibis, or even milk. So what could it be?
Cannibis cannot be the “Gateway drug” they speak of. It wasn’t the first one to connect those pathways. There was another drug that got there first. It was administered to us by our PARENTS and prescribed to us by our PEDIATRICIANS. It followed on the heels of what people were still referring to as “THE MIRACLE DRUG”. Yes, penicillin, truly WAS a miracle drug, in it’s day. So why should we NOT trust our Dr.’s when they gave us something that produced instant results and allowed Mom to sleep for what may have been the first time in several nights. But the medication prescribed was NOT for Mom. It was given to BABY, when their screams,( from emerging teeth,) kept us awake for days. It produced instant quiet and let us breathe easy for the first time in who-knows-how-long.

Well, from somewhere around WWII until about the late ’70’s, nearly every baby born was prescribed PARAGORIC as an infant, to relieve teething pain. Doctors never gave it a second thought. And best of all, it worked! So Moms never hesitated to use it. Now, here we are, giving all babies, (before their brains are even fully formed,) a prescription that triggered their brain to release that dopamine. And THAT connection never really left us. Then, years or decades later, the first time we ever consciously got high, that feeling of dopamine, releasing itself, flooded our subconscious with all the feel-good memories that were suppressed for decades. Bingo! Our brains were ALREADY programmed to respond. So, long before we ever thought of smoking that first hit, we were already programmed to respond to ANY drug. No matter what it was. That’s why people, who never even tried Cannabis, can so easily become addicted to prescription pain relievers. The gateway has been there since infancy. So Cannabis or not, most of us have been pre-programmed to LOVE that dopamine release. So, please stop blaming the Cannabis. Let the blame lie with the real culprit. PARAGORIC, otherwise known as TINCTURE OF OPIUM. Yes, that’s right we were all giving our babies pure opium, before we were even aware of what the results might be. So, if you are looking for a “gateway”, there it is.
    The Cause

Why do you suppose we spend half our lives
in an attempt to feel euphoric?
Could it be because, as infants,
    they fed us paragoric?

    “Oh, is your baby teething?
(This’ll help you cope with ’em)
    Absolutely harmless as can be!
    (It’s merely tincture of Opium!)”
