Marijuana May Help Treat Digestive Disorders

new study published by the Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, and conducted by researchers at McMaster University, has concluded that THC – a prime compound in cannabis - may protect the body against digestive disorders, such as inflammatory bowel disease.

Researchers for the study used THC on rats, andfound that the substance “could protect the lining of the stomach and intestine from injury and accelerate healing from inflammation.”

During the study, researchers found the THC to be useful even when given in small enough doses to not produce the “high” that typically comes with it: “We were getting effects locally in the lining of the intestine and the stomach without producing high enough blood levels of THC to cause behavioral changes”.

    D-uh, how many thousands of years did this take.. I suffered for twenty years with inflammation, ibd, and all the rest of nasty intestinal distress. Aggravated by AS.

    Cured the intestinal problem with herb.

  4. You’ll want CBD heavy tinctures. Although unless you get something from a dispensiary that has been refined, you’ll prob get a bit of a high. I’ve had issues with IBS, GERD, and pain from TMJ. Personally to keep my symptoms under control I can smoke 1 or 2 bowls every other day. Right now I smoke daily, just as a way to relax, and to help my girlfriend keep her back pain down as well. But if you are that adamant about not feeling any psycho-active effects, look into different types of tinctures. I’d also like to make a note, that while it’s possible to build up a tolerance to the psycho-active effects of MJ, that my stomach has never “built up a tolerance” against the MJ. To make that more clear, if I’m just hanging out and I decide I wanna get really stoned, I may need to smoke more than normal if I’ve been allowing my tolerance to build. However, if I’m just smoking to keep my stomach under control, I can smoke a small amount, and it still works just as good as it did when I started 2 yrs ago.

  7. sooo, I am a sober person with ulcerative colitis and no health insurance. how do I find out more about the methods of using THC that does not produce the high?
