Marijuana Reform Advocates To Gather In Amarillo On Saturday

texas norml region conference marijuana cannabisLocal marijuana policy reform advocates will gather Saturday for an advocacy training event at the Amarillo Southwest Library in Amarillo. Details of the event are available at http://texasmarijuanapolicy.org/marijuana-law-advocacy-training-amarillo/.

The event, hosted by Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy, is the sixth in a series of events being held around the state as part of an effort to inject the marijuana policy debate into 2016 state legislative races. An additional regional event is scheduled in Lubbock on January 10.

“Marijuana prohibition has been a miserable failure, and we want to give concerned Texans the tools to help enact sensible marijuana policy reform,” said Heather Fazio, a spokesperson for Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy. “Our communities should not be using their limited law enforcement resources to criminalize adults for using a substance that is safer than alcohol.

“We expect marijuana policy to be a hot topic in the next legislative session,” Fazio said. “We want to make sure citizens and the lawmakers they elect are prepared to address it.”

The event begins at 12:30 p.m. CT, and representatives from Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy will be available for interviews at 3 p.m. CT.

  1. I love the enthusiasm…but I can only presume my fellow Texans are just doing this..to affect change sometime after 2018 right, when we might get a more progressive governor?
Our jackass governor and his jack booted AG, have already said in no uncertain terms..no marijuana legalization efforts would cross his desk….and they intend to keep the status quo….

Just wait…if they are ever asked about it publicly..they will just trot out their piece of crap CBD only law that they let slide through…as if that means jack squat to anyone other than an absurdly small group of kids…great for those kids..but leaves EVERYONE else out in the cold…

FUCK GOVERNOR ABBOTT!! I hope he gets pushed into traffic!
