Massaschusetts Lawmakers To Hold Hearing On Marijuana Legalization Initiative

massachusetts marijuana campaign 2016Leaders of the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol will testify at a legislative hearing Monday in support of a measure that would end marijuana prohibition in Massachusetts and replace it with a system in which marijuana is regulated similarly to alcohol.

The Joint Committee on the Judiciary is considering H.3932 because the CRMLA submitted more than 105,000 signatures in support of the proposal in December. The measure will appear on the November ballot if the Legislature does not approve it.

CRMLA campaign manager Will Luzier and campaign chairman Dick Evans will hold a media availability outside the hearing room at 12:30 p.m. ET immediately prior to the hearing.

“This is the Legislature’s opportunity to embrace a far more sensible marijuana policy,” Luzier said. “Marijuana prohibition does not eliminate marijuana use. It only ensures that marijuana is unregulated, untested, untaxed, and sold by gangs and criminals. It is time to regulate marijuana and stop punishing adults for consuming a substance that is less dangerous than alcohol.”

  1. not adult use legal..just medical currently…free adult use is what I’m talking about…that is what is going through their legislature currently

  2. Philip Daniels on

I don’t think they’re going to adopt squat … but we’re sure sick of prohibition and we’ll push the button! …
    Smoke the vote! …

  3. The war on Marijuana has been a war on the American people. We have lost rights, privacy, and fostered a police state. i am sick of it. Vote to legalize cannabis to make our children safer and keep them out of prohibitionist jails. This has been a travesty for 60 years.

  4. Well, let’s hope it is up to the people to decide and not the politicians, as what happened in Maine.

  5. I don’t think people realize how big a legal Mass. will be for the northeast, and the entire east coast for that matter…with New York and Pennsylvania being a few hours drive from the Mass border…legal Mass could open up the entire northeast to legal cannabis…

the flow of cannabis out of Mass to neighboring states will be massive!!

Mass.. I feel will make Colorado look small..

Then add to it..if Vermont legalizes and does it through legislature..that would set a HUGE!!! precedent..that a bunch of states will be able to use to justify making legislature changes…

Some really big things about to happen east of the Mississippi…for sure!
