Medical Marijuana Available To 52% Of US/Canada Population

north america canada marijuana52% of the people living north of Mexico have access to legal medical marijuana.

Population tallies from the 24 US states with medical marijuana programs, one federal District and the country of Canada, which has a national program, show that the majority of those citizens are living in harmonious comfort with regulated medical marijuana production, distribution and use.

The number was contained in small print in an infographic published Nov. 23rd on Visual Capitalist’s website. Their article, “The Future of Cannabis: Five Things Investors Need To Know,” summarized the populations this way:

23 states with medical marijuana- 148.6 million people; Washington, D.C.- .7 million people; Canada- 35.2 million people; total of 184 million people, or 52% of the combined US/Canada population, per Visual Capitalist.

The news gets even better: Visual Capitalist failed to include Hawaii in their tally of medical marijuana states and population, as reflected by their infographic. The correct number of medical marijuana states is 24 (see NORML’s website for a full listing).

The Pacific state’s small population (1.4 million) doesn’t significantly increase the percentage of people covered in both the US and Canada by medical marijuana laws (185 million), but it’s proper to set the record straight. Especially since Hawaii’s medical marijuana program was signed into law more than 15 years ago.

15 other U.S. states have limited medical marijuana laws, commonly referred to as CBD-Only laws, and their populations were not included in the Visual Capitalist population tallies. CBD-Only states allow patients access to marijuana medicines with specific limitations on psychoactive components. These laws are relatively new and are present in places without traditional medical marijuana programs.

Two other states have decriminalized the possession and/or use of recreational marijuana and still do not allow medical use. According to NORML, those states are Ohio, which recently rejected a legalization proposal, and Nebraska.

you’re most likely the one with a cigarette in your hand inhaling cancer and drinking your liver away everytime something doesnt go your way. Dont shit down someone else’s happiness and call a mass amount of people “no goods” because you’re un-educated. These no goods could run your country some day, because they obviously have more knowledge about things (Like Cannabis) than you.
P.S Marijuana smoke reduces the risk of cancer ;P and Cannabis plant can be used to make PAPER. How utterly terrible!

  2. Please keep your ass in Canada and away from my dank buds. Us wonderful stoners don’t have time for ignorant cunts. :)

P.S. don’t like weed? Stay the fuck off of weed websites dumbass ?

Don’t like people smoking outside? Stay the fuck home. Nobody wants to deal with an ignorant bitch anyways. ESPECIALLY when they look like you. ?

You need to be locked up, threatening people and trying to exercise your false sense of legal power as free will. Don’t bring your fundamentalist ass to my state and you definitely have no right using anything from the US constitution to support your claims. The way your diction is written makes you look like a sociopath. You might not like the smell of weed in Ontario park but to think that your nasal passages are God’s gift to this great Earth and should never have to smell anything is self centered and insane. You don’t like the smell then find a another park or go somewhere else. You have other choices besides being a demanding self righteous asshole. By your legal knowledge and flawless logic we should impose fines and punishment for people who fart in an office building or for leaving your Tuesday Lunch in the community fridge until it spoils. Just to be clear both of the previous examples are of public space being polluted by what most people would consider an unpleasant aroma. What I am saying is that if Ontario only has one park and you are claiming that stoners are stinking it up then Ontario sucks and needs more parks. What this world doesn’t need more of is people like you with inferiority complexes who pass biased judgements based on misinformation and lacking mental capacity to formulate an educated argument. If you are so powerful and have all this legal ability then annex yourself some land in a warm part of the world and ship yourself there in order to protect society from your extreme view of control and extremist use of power. May God save us All but not you unless you change your attitude and humble yourself.

  4. Your government has made one hell of a enemy out of me. I will find a way to shut down the current weed law allowing public smoking of medical weed. Going to stink up Ontario!v You are just a bunch of no goods. Say good bye to Queens park ! Your days are numbered with such Malicious legislature against the public at large’s health. In the next election You and your selfies will be lucky to hold opposition.
Do you think the criminal s polluting my air! With their stench. and the others like them .Will butt out ! No it will lead to shootings stabbings fights. And overloaded police!
You just destroyed Ontario! I hope you are happy!
Until I can muster my legal people . It maybe quiet! But not for long!
    Thank you! (for nothing).

  5. This year 1.6 MILLION Americans will be diagnosed with Cancer.
Half of them will eventually die of it.
Every American Cancer Patient deserves the right to have Safe, Legal, Access to Medical Marijuana.
    Every. Single. One.

  6. I hope NY State was not included in that 52%. That state has no effective MMJ law and it is apparently dead in the water.
