Meet The Man That Discovered The Endocannabinoid System

the endocannabinoid system cannabisI received the following message and thought it was worth passing along:

Have you ever heard of the endocannabinoid system? Meet the man who discovered it at #Unity16 March 18-22 in Washington, D.C.

ASA is thrilled to announce the Keynote Speaker for the 4th Annual National Medical Cannabis Unity Conference is Professor Lumír Hanuš!

Prof. Hanuš is the world’s leading expert on the endocannabinoid system who famously isolated the first known endocannabinoid neurotransmitter, anandamide which lead to his co-discovery of the endocannabinoid system.  His work has shaped our understanding of the biological actions of cannabis by isolating individual cannabinoids and their associated receptors. And he will be sharing his insight directly with you.

If that isn’t enough…

The 4th Annual National Medical Cannabis Unity Conference will give YOU the opportunity to influence historic international and domestic advances in medical marijuana policy.

Besides being part of amazing conversations with scientists, politicians, doctors, patients, and activists from all over the world, you will be making history in two ways:

  1. As an attendee, you will participate in peer-reviewing a document which will be submitted to the United Nations for their special assembly on drug policy putting the rescheduling of Cannabis on the agenda for the UN meeting later this year.

  2. You will also meet with members of Congress about finally passing comprehensive federal cannabis legislation. We will be scheduling meetings with your congressional representative to discuss the CARERS Act. Sharing your personal stories and perspectives is key to passing this important legislation.

Leave YOUR mark on history by having your voice heard by the United Nations and Congress!

Please don’t miss out on your chance to be part of the largest patient-focused conference in the country, register today! Click here to view our full conference agenda.

P.S. — We have extended our early bird registration until Friday, February 26th. Show your commitment early and save $100.

You’re preaching to the choir on AUMA. I’m annoyed by parts of AUMA but as I said I’m definitely for it. This discussion started because you questioned a medical marijuana unity conference. I see such a conference as both natural and good, the MMJ advocacy community can’t afford to be fighting among themselves, any more than adult use legalizers can, or the two group can afford to fight with each other.

  2. Of course, medical marijuana should be instituted in states that have no legalization yet. That seems to be the way the public currently needs to get used to the idea of ending all of the fraudulent war on marijuana consumers. That need will likely change soon as public support for ending the insane witch-hunt continues to grow.

But in California’s case, the medical issue was settled by the state legislature finally regulating it. Now, it’s all about ending the fraudulent persecution of all marijuana consumers. – AUMA is the only initiative that has a real chance. It is also the best possible way to help medical patients, as noted.

  3. saynotohypocrisy on

Patients can’t wait til the fraudulent prohibition on cannabis is lifted. There will be state campaigns just to legalize medicinal use, as well there should be when there is not enough support to get all adult use legalized.

  4. No. Medical marijuana wouldn’t even be an issue if it weren’t for the fraudulent marijuana prohibition. And, as noted, nothing can help medical consumers better than ending the insane war on all consumers.

  5. saynotohypocrisy on

Yes AUMA is worth supporting despite its flaws, yes its passage will be a big push forward for legalization and that should help medical users. But no, medical is not a side issue or a small issue. It is an issue in its own right, and a crucial one, involving life and death and terrible suffering.

  6. The National Medical Cannabis Unity Conference? — Medical marijuana is important, but it is a small side issue compared to ending ALL of the fraudulent prohibition. – In fact, medical patients interests are best served by ending all of prohibition ASAP. That is the only thing that will really free them.

There is a troubling emergence of “medical” marijuana business interest engaging in misguided efforts to preserve itself in its current form – at the cost of blocking the larger effort to free all consumers. – Nowhere is this better seen than in the bizarre attacks on California’s November initiative to end marijuana prohibition – the Adult Use Of Marijuana Act (AUMA).

AUMA has achieved all the hallmarks of a successful initiative. Polling showing near perfect language, millions of dollars in the campaign war chest, petition signature gathering well-underway, and the support of all the major marijuana reform groups.

THIS is where all consumers should show unity. – Because of its size, wealth, population, resources and cultural influence, the power to break the back of marijuana prohibition now rests with California. – An AUMA victory will not only free Californians, but will cause the collapse of the crumbling fraud of the federal prohibition – as soon as 2017.

Nothing could help medical consumers more.
