Support HB 507 – Texans For Responsible Marijuana Policy TV Ad

In this TV ad for Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy — http://www.TexasMarijuanaPolicy.org — a retired police officer explains why he supports legislation to reduce penalties for simple marijuana possession (HB 507).

Texas Hill Country resident Det. Russell Jones says law enforcement officials’ time and limited resources should be used to address serious crimes, not to arrest and jail citizens for possessing small amounts of a substance that is less harmful than alcohol.

HB 507 would remove the threat of arrest, jail time, and a criminal record for possession of up to one ounce of marijuana and replace them with a civil fine of up to $250. Under current Texas law, individuals found in possession of less than two ounces of marijuana can be arrested and given a criminal record, and they face up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.

I signed up at fifteen for nam, my dad said Bowles don’t fight in corporate military fat/cats wars, he and mom were both ww2 veterans and medal recipients, they knew all about war, he told me if I wanted a fight he would show me one in the basement, by the time I was of age my dream of being a retired electrical/electronics sailor was dashed by the embarrassment of the incompetence and hopelessness in the mosquito infested swamps of Vietnam, making fat/cats richer and depriving our youths of their life, was that poor soul named Bowles one of those given five years hard labor or two years in nam for having a pot seed in their car/rug that were harassed and bullied by their fellow Americans, hounded in a wrong war by bigots and bullies fueled by the rich and powerful in the military/politics/corporate/judicial, “DO YOU SQUAT TO PEE YOU COMMUNIST TREE HUGGING n1gg3r LOVING FAGGOT”, I’ll bet that was you, yelling and badgering until they went mad…

  2. Texas will be one of the very last states in America to legalize marijuana. The bountiful, red neck, southern baptist, militarists have such a hard time moving into the 21st century. Gonna be hard for them to smoke the peace pipe with the hippies they all bought assault rifles to protect themselves from…

  3. I knew a kid named Bowles when I was in the Army. He was a real trouble maker. One day the C.O. Asked him ” what would it take to make you happy Bowles?”
Bowles stuck his M16 in his mouth, pulled the trigger, and replied “one live round sir, one live round”.
    Is that you Bowles?

Capitalism and Freedom at it’s best… Nothing says America like a ball/cap, shirt, pants, socks, shoes, and shoestrings made from Virginian/hemp and a bag of Colorado/homegrown…That’s the America I grew up in…

  6. Not good enough, I support bill HB2165. If all we get out of our Representatives is this half-assed, decriminalization bill, it’ll be another 50 years before we get rid of prohibition in Texas. This bill won’t prevent cops from searching your car, and enhancing your charges to continue to jail users. HB2165 offers full legalization. And if we settle for this $250.00 fine bullshit, we’ll never get any real change.
