Today: Massachusetts Marijuana Initiative Backers To Submit Final Petition Signatures


massachusetts marijuana campaign 2016The Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol will wrap up its petition drive Tuesday in support of a proposed ballot initiative to end marijuana prohibition in Massachusetts.

At 1 p.m. ET, campaign leaders will submit their final petition signatures to the Elections Division of the Secretary of the Commonwealth, which is located in Room 1705 of the McCormack Building at One Ashburton Pl. They will be available for interviews before and after submitting the petition.

The campaign has collected more than 103,000 total signatures, and 64,750 valid signatures of registered state voters are required to qualify for the November 2016 ballot.

  2. Massachusetts has the worst civil asset forfeiture program out of all 50 states. The state with the facade of championing consumer protections allows for forfeiture of property without a conviction, 100% of assets go to law enforcement, and virtually no third party protection for innocent property owners. The state is the only in the nation to receive an F grade from the Institute of justice. Edit: North Dakota received an F as well. What if anything is the CMRLA doing to address this?
