Volunteer For MAPS At The Grateful Dead Fare Thee Well Shows

MAPS-logoI am a big fan of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). I am also a huge fan of the Grateful Dead. There is an opportunity to volunteer for MAPS at Grateful Dead’s ‘Fare Thee Well’ shows. This is a great opportunity because tickets for the shows are more rare than left handed unicorns right now. Below is more information:

As you are no doubt aware, the Grateful Dead will be reuniting in Chicago at Soldier Field for 4th of July weekend, nearly 20 years to the day since their last concert, which took place at the same venue. MAPS is one of the charities specially selected by band members to have a table inside the stadium’s Participation Row area, so we are sending a small team of staff to Chicago, and recruiting supporters and friends to help us distribute flyers in the parking lot—which will surely be a show of it’s own!

If you are interested in volunteering, submit your information here.

We will confirm your shift(s) by June 15, and follow up with tips on how to prepare, and logistical details, like how to find us onsite.

We are also looking for housing for staff who will be traveling to the event; if you have space to offer, please email kynthia@maps.org.
We are honored and excited to share in this historic reunion of not just a band, but also the culture that grew up alongside it—including MAPS—and our goal is to get specially designed MAPS brochures into the hands of everyone at the show.  We will spark conversations about what’s been happening with psychedelics since the historic Acid Tests, and everyone will know that MAPS is working at this very moment to provide novel treatments for chronic psychological conditions for which conventional medicine offers limited relief, like PTSD, and anxiety associated with life-threatening illness.

A ticket to the show is not required to volunteer, and volunteering will not provide you with admission to the stadium.  We have been allocated a very limited number of tickets, most of which are reserved for our tabling staff, but we are reselling the remainder to volunteers at cost ($199 each for good seats).  In order to request a ticket, you must agree to work at least two shifts from 1PM – 7PM, which is before the show starts.  Priority will be given to people who do not have any other tickets, and we like to think that the opportunity to connect with other MAPS supporters and spread the word about psychedelic research will be its own reward.

There will also be sandwiches.
Submit your information here.

We will confirm your shift(s) by June 15, and follow up with tips on how to prepare, and logistical details, like how to find us onsite.

If you have space to offer, or pressing questions that must be resolved before you request a shift, email kynthia@maps.org.
Thank you for your interest in supporting our psychedelic research and education programs.

We hope you can make it!
