‘Weed: Dr. Sanjay Gupta Reports’ Will Air On CNN This Sunday

I received the following message from CNN. I know I’ll be watching, will you? See below:

Once considered a more underground activity, marijuana has become increasingly popular over the years, resulting in legalization to grow, sell and smoke it in states like Colorado and Washington.  Cannabis has become one of the most controversial topics in America, but just decades ago it was a legitimate medication on U.S. formulary.  No matter the circumstance, the debate over marijuana still exists and one question remains the same.  Is marijuana bad for you or, could it actually be good for you?

In “Weed” – a one hour documentary premiering on Sunday, August 11th at 8 pm ET – CNN’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta spends nearly a year traveling the globe to shed light on the debate.

While it is part of a lifestyle for some, it is a lifeline for others including five-year-old Charlotte Figi.  Charlotte suffers from a rare condition called Dravet’s syndrome, making her prone to up to 300 seizures per week.  Like many people who use marijuana for medicinal purposes, parents Paige and Matt Figi tried every other option before resorting to this type of prescription.  Sanjay follows their journey.

Sanjay takes you to Colorado where weed dispensaries and pot cafes have become the norm.  Dealers, doctors, users – Gupta meets with various people, like the Figis, offering a raw insight to what’s been dubbed “The Green Rush.”  He also talks to experts about whether marijuana can be addictive—and whether it can contribute to long-term damage in the brain.

Sanjay’s final stops are in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem where he meets with some of the pioneers behind marijuana study, offering access to decades of innovative and cutting-edge research.

Weed:  Sanjay Gupta Reports will replay Sunday, August 11th at 11:00 pm ET and Monday, August 12th at 2:00 am ET.

  1. For me the key point was that the important active ingredient was not THC (or is it TCH) at all. Further that varieties have been developed with very little of the hallucinogen. This was a very informative program and about time.

  2. in San Diego, ive got the dankest shit “Jack Herer, Northern Lights, Blue Dream, OG etc.. i would post up pics but i feel like thats to hot if u know what i mean.. if you need anything email me Nfvv@ymail.com and maybe ill give you my number

  3. Well said…I think ppl who have never used it classify it “poison” because most drug dealers sell real drugs including pot as in the tv show drugs inc.

  4. Michael L. Wallace Jr. on

Theory ; The Absence of Cannabis from the Human Diet due to Prohibition has brought about the Horrific Disease & illnesses we face Today.

  5. Stacy, with all due respect and I’m not trying to disrespect, uninformed people like you who say it isn’t a drug just completely hurt the movement. It is by definition and psycho-active drug. Is it very benign drug with very minimal draw-backs that will probably go on to have MANY uses in the medical field in the near future? YES. But it will be used in the medical field because it is an effective DRUG.

  6. Where are the risks, and since when is Cannabis a drug? It is, by the definition of our stupid government, “Schedule A”. Too many people look at the word “illegal” and just label it horrible no matter what it is. Cannabis poses no health risks.. ZERO deaths in all recorded history due to Cannabis. Cannabis is used for a litany illnesses and conditions.. one being ASTHMA. People do not have to USE it to see the benefit from it.. Money comes in, crime slows down.. people are HAPPY and SAFE .. its a WIN WIN! Lets talk about HEMP- Its Illegal yet you can build a house with it (for example) .. Save the forests… Legalize HEMP! Its cheap, it grows fast (like in MONTHS compared to DECADES from seed to Maturity) I could go on and on… I wont tho :)

Thank You Sanjay finally someone is speaking out for those who use this drug as a medical use. Although there are risks, there are risks with any drug.

  8. This is big. The good doctor, with this one program, will push public opininion a few more points. This program is poison for the drug war and am surprised it will get to be aired.

  9. Thanks for posting this. I’ve been waiting on this for months, but couldn’t find when it was going to air. I hope he does a good, fair job of it. Many people look up to this man like a past generation looked to Walter Cronkite. This could be big.
